The Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) started its project for the development of a jet engine training aircraft (Hürjet), which SSB and Air Forces Command secured with the protocol, in August 2017. Hürjet will have two variants; jet training and armed version. Armed version will be used in air support missions and air combat training aircraft roles closer to F-16 aircraft.
The range of Hürjet is 2 thousand 592 km, the payload capacity will be 2 thousand 721 kg. The aircraft will be able to function in mild offensive operations and will be capable of refuelling in the air to provide consistent near-air support. The aircraft will go up to 1.2 Mach with a 17,000 pound propulsion engine and will rise to an altitude of 45,000 feet.
