Taiwan began to upgrade its fleet of F-16 fighters on 16 January, announced by the Taiwan Air Force. Under the $3,47 billion ‘Phoenix Rising’ project, Aerospace Industrial Development Corp (AIDC) and Lockheed Martin will carry out the upgrade work of all F-16A/Bs. The first four aircraft arrived in the company’s plant in Taichung yesterday. Taiwan currently operates 144 F-16A/Bs and aims to upgrade entire fleet to F-16Vs by 2023.
