ARX Robotics and ROBONEERS validated interoperability between the SABER combat module and the GEREON unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) through initial integration tests.
ARX Robotics and Ukrainian defence technology company ROBONEERS successfully completed the initial integration tests. The M2 and MK 19 (M) configurations of the SABER combat module are scheduled to be integrated into the GEREON platform by the end of 2026. Initial deliveries are expected to be carried out in line with the operational requirements of the Ukrainian Defence Forces. The completion of the tests marks the next stage of the strategic technical partnership signed in Kyiv on 4 October 2026, during German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s official visit to Ukraine, in the presence of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Developed by ROBONEERS for use with different weapon systems, SABER is a family of modular, remotely operated weapon systems. ROBONEERS’ flagship robotic systems, the Rys Pro UGV and SABER weapon station, have undergone combat validation in more than 15,000 frontline missions while serving with units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Integrating SABER into the GEREON unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) enables different mission capabilities to be combined on a single platform while expanding the range of platforms compatible with ROBONEERS modules. In this configuration, GEREON provides mobility, power support and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, while the SABER module delivers fire support. This allows military units to deploy different weapon systems, ranging from assault rifles to grenade launchers, on a single ground platform according to mission requirements.
ARX Robotics and ROBONEERS Build on GEREON’s Mission Versatility
The companies aim to meet growing demand for unmanned combat vehicles that can be easily reconfigured to adapt to changing frontline requirements and rapidly scaled up in production, while improving the safety of military personnel. According to the company, the GEREON series of medium-class unmanned ground vehicles developed by ARX Robotics constitutes the largest fleet of Western-made UGVs currently deployed in Ukraine. Thanks to its modular design, the GEREON platform can be used in various configurations for missions including logistics resupply, casualty evacuation, electronic warfare (EW), intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), combat operations and counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS). The platforms currently in active service enable ARX Robotics to continuously improve its systems under operational conditions and advance the development of next-generation unmanned ground systems.
ARX Robotics Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Co-Founder Maximilian Wied stated that modern armed forces require platforms capable of rapidly adapting to different missions, integrating new technologies and operating seamlessly with existing systems. Wied explained that GEREON was developed to meet requirements for modularity, interoperability and mission readiness. He also noted that the collaboration with ROBONEERS demonstrates how emerging defence technology companies can keep pace with the demands of the battlefield.
ROBONEERS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Anton Skrypnyk stated that the SABER combat module was designed to adapt to the operational requirements of military units. Skrypnyk emphasised that integration with GEREON validated interoperability between the two systems and that the companies were accelerating the deployment of capabilities required on the frontline.
The new integration effort follows an agreement previously signed between the two companies. Having agreed to establish a joint venture called ARX Industries to increase production of the Rys Pro unmanned ground vehicle in Germany and Ukraine, the companies set a four-digit unit production target for the first year.
