Destinus has completed production of its 1,750th Ruta B1 cruise missile. With monthly output approaching 300 units, the company highlights that the main challenge in transitioning from prototype development to serial production is ensuring that every missile is manufactured to the same standard.
Destinus, which serves the armed forces of European and allied countries, stated that these production figures demonstrate Europe’s ability to manufacture missiles on an industrial scale and maintain the continuous output needed to preserve and replenish the ammunition stockpiles of armed forces.
Continuity and Standardisation in Missile Production
The growing demand for ammunition among armed forces is placing greater emphasis on faster stockpile replenishment and continuous production. In this context, defence ministries need suppliers capable of maintaining stable, large-scale production at costs that allow sufficient ammunition stockpiles to be built up and sustained. Destinus Chief Production and Supply Chain Officer Sidney Berndt stated that producing the first few units is difficult, but transitioning from prototype development to serial production presents the real challenge. According to Berndt, the key test is ensuring that every missile is manufactured to the same standard as production scales up. The company emphasised that while the figure of 1,750 represents an achievement for its team, the real story lies in the work behind that milestone.
Vertical integration forms the foundation of this approach, with Destinus carrying out engineering work on propulsion systems, missile airframes, guidance systems and avionics in-house. The company manufactures the Ruta B1’s engine and develops its navigation system, producing the missile on an industrial scale through repeatable manufacturing processes across its European operations. In an exclusive interview with C4Defence, Destinus CEO Mikhail Kokorich previously discussed the company’s production architecture and industrial network in Europe.
Destinus Missile Production
Destinus’ portfolio includes cruise missiles, guided rockets, ballistic systems and interceptor missiles, with the company aiming to establish Europe’s sovereign capabilities in strike, defence and resupply. The Ruta missile family forms part of Destinus’ efforts to strengthen Europe’s strike and air defence capabilities. The company’s strike systems and interceptor missiles are being developed around a common architecture designed to meet storage, transport and rapid resupply requirements during high-intensity operations. Destinus announced that it had produced 1,750 Ruta B1 cruise missiles, with monthly production approaching 300 units. In June 2026, the company also announced the production of its 1,000th T150 engine. The T150 turbojet engine powering the Ruta B1 is developed and manufactured by Destinus.
