Reuters claimed that, India received an amendment to its purchase of several General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc (GA-ASI) Guardian UAVs from the United States. US had already offered to sell India unarmed surveillance platforms for the Indian Navy (IN) now it is changed to weaponized version of UAVs. Based on the MQ-9 Reaper, the Guardian can be equipped with air-to-land missiles, anti-ship missiles and laser guided bombs. The proposed deal has a value of $2-3 billion. If the purchase goes through, it would be first time that the US sold a large armed UAV to a country outside of NATO.
