General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) has signed a new $43.5 million contract modification to support production processes for the U.S. Army’s main battle tank, the M1A2 Abrams SEPv3.

Work to Continue Through 2028
The timeline for the contract – which is critical for the modernisation of armoured land platforms and the uninterrupted continuation of logistics lines – has also been clarified. According to the official announcement, work under the project is expected to be completed by 31 January 2028.
The contract has been structured with flexibility, meaning that the locations where work will be carried out and the military funds to be used will be determined separately under each task order issued throughout the process.

Contract Management at Detroit Arsenal
This critical budget modification, covering production support for M1A2 Abrams SEPv3 tanks, is being managed by the Detroit Arsenal contracting office, which operates under the Army Contracting Command based in Michigan. With this new funding, General Dynamics Land Systems – headquartered in Sterling Heights, Michigan – has further strengthened its role in ensuring the seamless integration of the U.S. Army’s most modern Abrams variant into the inventory.
