The US Department of Defence announced that a contract has been awarded to Charles Stark Draper Laboratory for production and test of Trident D-5 submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) guidance system. $54 million contract includes failure verification, test, repair and recertification of inertial measurement units, electronic assemblies, and electronic modules. The three-stage, solid-fueled nuclear-capable SLBM is currently deployed on The UK’s Vanguard class submarines as well as on the US Navy's Ohio and Columbia class nuclear missile submarines.
