Trials of Armoured Mortar Vehicle Begins

Turreted armoured mortar vehicles come to the fore with their high rate of fire and their ability to offer personnel to serve under armour protection.

The U.S., which has been searching for vehicles with fast and precise indirect firing capabilities for Stryker troops for some time, has begun experiments on the prototype of the final vehicle. Washington has started the testing process of a new platform with the Stryker 8×8 wheeled armoured vehicle chassis developed in line with the Army requirements. In the images published from the ongoing trials at the Yuma Proving Ground stationed in the Arizona Desert, it was seen that the vehicle was integrated with the Nemo 120 mm mortar system.

The U.S. Army and Patria have signed a feasibility agreement on Nemo in recent months and conducted a series of trials with Nemo integrated to 8×8 Patria AMV chassis. Thanks to its modular structure and low weight, Nemo, which can be integrated into trucks, armoured vehicles and even boats, has the ability to fire on the move. In addition to indirect fire, the system offers the user the opportunity to engage without restrictions, such as minimum range, as it can shoot directly on the target.
