TCG Ufuk Started to Sea Trials

The Turkish Navy continues to acquire new systems with domestic facilities in line with the requirements and future plans of the modern battlefield.

TCG Ufuk (A 591), built under the Test and Training Ship (Test ve Eğitim Gemisi / TVEG) Project, started sea trials. The ship and mission systems of the platform, which has a similar hull and superstructure with Ada-class corvettes, were developed under the responsibility of ASELSAN. Built by Istanbul Shipyard under the main contractor of STM, TCG Ufuk is 99.5 meters long. Four 750 kVA power generators on the ship, with a full displacement of 2,400 tons, were also produced by İŞBİR.

The ship, which can also perform tasks such as SIGINT and ELINT, does not have a weapon system in order not to be perceived as a threat. The ship, which can reach 18 knots per hour maximum speed was built in 30 blocks. The ship, which has antenna hardware similar to the MPAR radar system, also has a helipad suitable for the operation of 10-ton class helicopters.

Following the completion of the sea trials, the ship is planned to be delivered to the Turkish Naval Forces Command in the coming weeks.
