ST Engineering’s marine arm has secured a subcontract worth approximately SGD 600 million over six years to design and supply platform systems for a fleet of eight guided missile fast attack craft. These vessels are being built by Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) for the Kuwait Navy. In addition, ST Engineering will construct three of the vessels at its shipyard in Singapore. The company will also provide platform design, integration, and technical expertise support.
This contract follows ADSB’s 2021 order for four similar Offshore Patrol Vessels for the United Arab Emirates Navy. Furthermore, the development highlights the partnership between ADSB and ST Engineering. It also demonstrates the group’s track record in marine engineering and the delivery of complex naval platforms.
Fearless-Class Design Selected
The Kuwait Navy’s new guided missile fast attack craft will be based on ST Engineering’s proprietary Fearless-class patrol vessel design. This design was developed for its Middle East operations. The adoption of this design by Kuwait, following Oman and the UAE, reflects the platform’s operational performance and adaptability.
The vessels are designed with high redundancy in critical systems to support uninterrupted operations and maximize mission readiness. In addition, the vessels are equipped with advanced platform systems that enhance navigational precision and maneuverability. As a result, the fast attack craft will deliver strong performance in both littoral and open-sea missions. They also feature an architecture that enables extended patrol endurance and effective operation in challenging maritime environments.
With over 50 years of experience in naval design and engineering, ST Engineering continues to invest in the construction of mission-ready platforms. These platforms are equipped with smart technologies for modern navies.
