Saab has signed a contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the supply of a mobile and modular Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS). The order, valued at approximately 2.6 billion Swedish kronor, will be delivered between 2027 and 2028.
The new system will protect the Swedish Armed Forces and civilian infrastructure against drone threats. Saab is developing and deploying this technology in collaboration with FMV and the Swedish Armed Forces. The system complements the country’s existing air and drone defense capabilities.
Technical Structure of the System
Saab’s C-UAS solution detects, tracks, and neutralizes small- and medium-sized drones flying at low altitudes. Featuring a modular and mobile platform, the system integrates Saab’s sensor and effector technologies with third-party solutions into a single structure. In addition, the system operates in full compatibility with existing defense networks.
Carl-Johan Bergholm, Head of Saab Surveillance, shared the following regarding the order: “With this order, Sweden will have an advanced, mobile, and modular C-UAS system. This technology enhances airspace security by detecting, tracking, and neutralizing threats. It also integrates easily with other systems.”
The system, which is already operational and ready for deployment, strengthens Sweden’s defense capabilities against modern drone threats.
