Raytheon signed an agreement with the US Missile Defense Agency for $ 466.9 million. Under the agreement, the company will produce 44 SM-3 Block IBs.
RM-161 The SM-3 missile is the backbone of the US Navy and Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force's missile defence power. The block IB model, with its two color infrared scanner, improved maneuverability and propulsion, destroys its target with a kinetic energy warhead. The missile can reach 3 Mach speeds. 708 kilograms of ammunition has 90 thousand meters of effective range.
