At the SCORPION Days event held in Canjuers, France, a ten-year progress report for the SCORPION fleet was unveiled. The French Army’s inventory now includes 723 GRIFFON, 296 SERVAL, and 91 JAGUAR vehicles, bringing the SCORPION armored fleet to a total of 1,110 vehicles.
The first vehicles of the SCORPION fleet were delivered in 2019. Thanks to investments at KNDS France’s final assembly site in Roanne, annual production capacity for the SCORPION vehicle fleet has tripled over the past five years, rising from 92 to 300 units. The company’s goal is to reach a combined annual output of 450 vehicles across all program models.
New Capabilities Are Coming to the SCORPION Fleet’s JAGUAR and SERVAL
35 JAGUAR vehicles were delivered to the SCORPION fleet in 2024. The vehicle has now been fully qualified under the R2 standard, allowing full use of the digitized 40mm cannon developed by KNDS France, including fire-on-the-move capability. The R3 standard, whose qualification is planned for 2025, will introduce in-flight missile diversion and airburst ammunition capabilities, which are currently in the final stages of development under the oversight of the French defense procurement agency DGA.
That same year, 103 SERVAL vehicles joined the SCORPION program vehicles. An amendment signed by DGA at the end of 2024 expanded production by 627 additional units and introduced two new variants: a counter-drone combat variant fitted with KNDS France’s ARX30 turret, and a MISTRAL ground-based air defense variant equipped with MBDA’s ATLAS RC turret. KNDS France and Texelis built the SERVAL on a shared core chassis with four versions and 16 main variants, further expanding the mission range within the SCORPION fleet’s SERVAL family.
The SCORPION Fleet Is Expanding to Belgium
Under the CaMo (Capacité Motorisée) program with Belgium, assembly of Belgian GRIFFON vehicles began in early 2025 at the Mol Cy facility, with first deliveries planned for July 2025. The first JAGUAR deliveries to Belgium are expected by the end of 2026, marking the first time the SCORPION fleet will enter service outside France, joining the Belgian Army’s inventory.
