Rolls-Royce Power Systems has signed a new contract with the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) for the supply of approximately 200 mtu PowerPacks for Puma infantry fighting vehicles. This agreement, one of the largest military orders in the company’s history, includes the delivery of enhanced propulsion systems featuring mtu 10V 890 engines.
Deliveries to Begin in 2028
Under the contract, deliveries of the propulsion systems are scheduled to begin in 2028. To meet this order, Rolls-Royce Power Systems aims to expand its production capacity, invest in modern manufacturing technologies, and increase its workforce.
Technical Features and Operational Efficiency
The mtu 10V 890 engine-based PowerPack systems to be used in Puma infantry fighting vehicles stand out with their high power density and compact design. The next-generation propulsion systems are expected to improve the operational readiness of the vehicles and minimize the risk of failure under challenging field conditions.
Dr. Jörg Stratmann, CEO of Rolls-Royce Power Systems, stated that the order demonstrates confidence in the company’s industrial capabilities and strengthens its technological partnership with the Bundeswehr.
Knut Müller, Senior Vice President for Governmental Affairs at Rolls-Royce, described the Puma’s powerpack as a key benchmark in armored vehicle propulsion system technology due to its compact structure and performance.
