India continues to strengthen its fleet. Over the past few weeks, the government of Delhi has signed an agreement on the procurement of frigates from Russia, and now ordered additional frigates.

In the scope of the order containing two Project 1135.6 class frigates, the options included in the agreement signed on 15 October 2016 were finalized. It was announced that the platforms planned to be built in Goa Shipyard in India and will be delivered in 2026.

New platforms will include optimizations for Indian Navy requirements. It is aimed to increase the effectiveness of the ships that will be equipped with more advanced domestic production subsystems than their predecessors in the missions or accompanying services. In addition, radar, acoustic, electromagnetic and infrared signatures of platforms are planned to be reduced
