Overland AI will support the production and fielding of autonomous ground vehicles for the 75th Ranger Regiment through additional funding added to its APFIT contract.
The additional funding awarded to Overland AI builds on the company’s existing $20 million APFIT contract for the production of autonomous ground vehicles for MADIS. With the expansion, the contract received an additional $4.5 million in funding.
The scope of the contract has been expanded beyond the U.S. Marine Corps to include U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) and the U.S. Army. The additional funding is also planned to support the production and fielding of autonomous ground vehicles for the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Overland AI CEO Byron Boots said the platform would help Ranger units travel farther, move faster and fight more effectively.
Overland AI’s autonomous ground vehicles can support different payloads and mission sets while operating without continuous teleoperation or remote control. The company states that the systems are ready for large-scale field deployment alongside military personnel.
