The US President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, turned a 32-year-long dream into a nightmare.

When the last General Secretary of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev came together with the then US President Ronald Reagan met in Washington in December 8, 1987, we somehow felt that we were approaching the end of the Cold War although we could not anticipate the conclusion.

During the post-World War II ideological confrontation along the NATO-Warsaw Pact line, we noticed that the Soviet camp found it hard to cope up with the latest developments particularly in technology and economy. However, we also thought that the problem could not be resolved in near future given the “nuclear balance of terror” holding the mankind in captivity.
