Turkish defense industry company Otokar has secured a place among the candidates for one of Brazil’s major procurement programs, the “New Family of Tracked Armored Vehicles,” with its TULPAR tracked armored vehicle. The program aims to procure vehicles capable of integrating weapon systems of various calibers and configurations, up to a 120-millimeter gun, for the Brazilian Army.

Otokar’s TULPAR-based solution has been presented as a candidate, highlighting its flexibility to meet the Brazilian Army’s diverse mission and firepower requirements. The primary objective of the program is to procure tracked vehicles suitable for different missions within a single vehicle family.

Technical Specifications and High Firepower Potential of the TULPAR Platform

TULPAR çok amaçlı paletli zırhlı aracının hafif tank konfigürasyonu hareket halinde.

TULPAR is a multi-purpose platform with high firepower, a modular structure, and growth potential, capable of being configured in different variants to meet current and future operational requirements. Thanks to its modular design approach, a common hull structure and common subsystems can be used for different configurations, providing logistical advantages.

Modularity and Configurations

Using a common hull structure, TULPAR is available in multiple configurations, including Light Tank, Armored Combat Vehicle, Armored Personnel Carrier, Reconnaissance Vehicle, Command and Control Vehicle, Air Defense Vehicle, Ambulance, Maintenance and Recovery Vehicle, Mortar Carrier, and other vehicle variants

Firepower and Integration

“TULPAR’s modular structure allows the integration of manned or unmanned weapon systems, mortars, and air defense systems in calibers ranging from 7.62 mm to 120 mm.

Mobility

The vehicle’s powerpack, located at the front of the hull, features a turbocharged diesel engine with power options ranging from 700 to 1,100 hp and automatic transmission options. A durable torsion-bar suspension system is used, and the track tension can be adjusted from the driver’s compartment via the Automatic Track Tensioning System.

Facility Visit by the Brazilian Army Command

Commander of the Brazilian Army, General Tomas Miguel Mine Riberio Paiva, along with the accompanying delegation, paid an official visit to Otokar’s facilities on Friday, October 31, 2025, as part of the program process.

The delegation inspected Otokar’s products on site and received technical information. Among the configurations examined were the tracked TULPAR vehicle in a medium-class tank configuration and the Armored Combat Vehicle (ACV) solution equipped with a 30-mm MIZRAK turret.
