New Hovercraft Accepted

The new hovercraft developed for use in amphibious operations, including landing helicopter dock, has completed acceptance tests.

Textron Systems, which continues its activities in the USA, announced that completion of the acceptance tests of the Next Generation Ship to Shore Connector. Craft 100 used in testing activities was subjected to extensive trials. The platform, which successfully demonstrated its wire control system, electrical and propulsion system capabilities, met the Navy's minimum requirements.

NG SSCs, which are planned to replace LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushioned / Removal Vehicle, Air-Cushion) platforms that are currently in use, will carry amphibious elements from awaiting ships on a safe distance to the shores. The service life of the platforms, which can reach a maximum speed of 35 knots / hour in 3 Sea Conditions, is planned to be 30 years. Vehicles carrying 74 tons payload were built at Textron Systems' facilities in New Orleans. Platforms carrying personnel and materials on the 20.4 m x 7.3 m wide deck are managed by a crew of four.
