BAE Systems has signed a new agreement with the United States. Company will modernize the USS Gettysburg (CG 64), a Ticonderoga Class guided missile cruiser under the agreement.

Within the scope of modernization, the weapon and engineering systems of the ship will be upgraded with more advanced ones. In addition to this, platform will gain necessary infrastructure for integration of the Aegis combat system. New communication systems, CANES (Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise Systems) will also be integrated. In addition, crew's life rooms will be improved. Modernization, which will last 15 months, will cost 146.3 million US dollars. The ship will start the modernization process in January 2019 and be completed in March 2020. Life of the platform with this operation will be extended to 2035.
