Malaysia plans to acquire two submarines between 2031 and 2040 according to the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) media statement. The country currently operates a fleet of two Perdana Menteri (Scorpene)-class diesel-electric submarines both of which were commissioned in 2009. The Perdana Menteri Class has an overall length of 67,56 metres and a beam of 6,2 metres. The platform has a maximum range of 12 thousand kilometres surfaced and is able to operate in depths of a maximum 550 nautical miles.
