March 3, 2018F-35 Costs Still Too High
The Pentagon Director of F-35 Lightning II program Vice Admiral Mat Winter stated on Wednesday that the cost of the F-35s is still too high and that if more savings can’t be squeezed out of the manufacturing process, the aircraft could become unaffordable.
While the negotiations are still continuing with Lockheed Martin for the F-35 Lot 11, which includes the supply of 130 aircraft, Winter noted that the decline in the F-35 price remaining at current speed is quite concerning.
