A comprehensive 502.3 million dollar post production support package has been rolled out for the M‑TADS/PNVS systems that affect mission readiness for AH‑64 Apache helicopters worldwide, under a Lockheed Martin Apache contract. The US Army will work with Lockheed Martin as the sole provider for system sustainment through 2031.
Orlando, Florida based Lockheed Martin will take on post production support activities for the Modernised Target Acquisition and Designation System/Pilot Night Vision System, which provides the night and day targeting and vision capabilities for AH‑64 Apache attack helicopters. The contract aims to ensure uninterrupted target acquisition and designation capabilities for operational platforms in all weather conditions.
Hybrid Contract and Technical Structure
The award, valued at 502,381,686 US dollars, was structured as a hybrid model combining cost‑no‑fee, cost‑plus‑fixed‑fee and firm‑fixed‑price contract types. The procurement process was managed by the US Army Contracting Command, and Lockheed Martin was the sole bidder.
Operational Support Through 2031
The work, coordinated by the Redstone Arsenal office in Alabama, will have its locations and funding lines defined separately for each order throughout the process. Sustainment activities under the contract are expected to be completed by 5 July 2031. This post production support from Lockheed Martin plays a key role in maintaining mission readiness rates for AH‑64 Apache helicopters in the inventories of international users.
