Indigenous Aerostat on Duty at Idlib

Surveillance aerostats provide a key solution for continuous surveillance from the air, critical facility security and regional communication requirements.

Karagöz Aerostat Surveillance System, which was developed by ASELSAN domestically, started to task at Idlib. The platform, which was detected while on observation duty in the De-Escalation zone, is estimated to be deployed to detect possible violations in the region.

The aerostat system, which provides the personnel on the ground for long-term surveillance and tracking, can perform tasks such as detecting/tracking suspicious objects trapped with IED or necessary objects within the task requirements. The system, which has three different models: Karagöz-S, Karagöz-M and Karagöz-L, can operate in up to 40 knots / hour (74 km / h) windy environment depends to the variant. Karagöz, which can transfer data by wire or wireless connection, can be equipped with Atmaca or CATS payload. In this way, the aerostat, which has the ability to make 360-degree stabilized observation, can perform its duty without helium gas replenishment for seven days at -20 to +50 degrees Celsius ambient temperature. Karagöz family can be delivered to the desired area thanks to its durable tether cable, high winding crane system, mobile mooring equipment and compact trailer system that includes maintenance and repair kit.
