Germany Approved Sale to Egypt

The German Bundestag Budget Committee has approved Egyptian sales of 2.3 billion euros. The sale was made with the export credit guarantee to secure the financial aspect of the agreement.

Under the agreement, which was announced as € 2.3 billion in total, six warships will be supplied for the Egyptian Navy. Three of the platforms will be the MEKO A200 class like used in the South African Navy. Approximately 120 meters long MEKO A200 ships with a displacement of 2500 tons. Thanks to its modular structure, ships that can be equipped with different weapons and electronics. Platforms are capable of performing both anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare missions. Egypt has not yet announced in which configuration these ships will be delivered.
