Approval to Stryker Sale

Stryker family armoured vehicles, developed by the USA for fast deployment missions during the Cold War, continue their duties in different countries.

The U.S. Department of Defence Pentagon approved the sale of 27 M1126 Stryker armoured personnel carriers (APCs) to Argentina under FMS (Foreign Military Sales). Buenos Aires had requested 27 M1126 Stryker and .50 cal mm M2 machine guns from the US in the past months. It was announced that the total cost of the platforms would be approximately 100 million USD.

Stryker family vehicles were developed as part of the program launched by the US Army in 1982 to deploy a division level power anywhere in the world. The M1126 is the APC model of the tree of vehicles for different tasks. The platform, which can be managed with a crew of two, can carry nine personnel. With a combat weight of approximately 17,200 kilograms, M1126 is resistant to heavy machine gunfire. The platform, which can be armed with a 7.62 mm or 12.7 mm machine gun as well as a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher, is powered by a 350 hp Caterpillar 3126 diesel engine. The vehicle can reach a maximum speed of 100 km / h and its operational range is approximately 530 km.
