Saab has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Canadian company Cohere to develop advanced artificial intelligence technologies. This agreement establishes a technical framework for integrating AI solutions into aviation systems to support the GlobalEye platform. Although the collaboration is primarily linked to GlobalEye projects in Canada, it also covers all current and future international users. The capabilities developed are planned to be incorporated into Saab’s global product portfolio, enhancing the company’s competitiveness in the international market.
Technical Collaboration Areas and Applications
The collaboration focuses on areas such as data-driven mission support, tools that optimize maintenance processes, and on-premises information processing in high-security aviation environments. In line with current program requirements, initial pilot projects are being carried out to test collaboration models. These projects aim to enable faster processing of complex data, increase operational speed, and provide data analysis that facilitates decision-making in critical situations.
Strategic Objectives and Industrial Contribution
Saab’s President and CEO, Micael Johansson, emphasizes that advanced technology partnerships in Canada are of strategic importance for the company’s global supply chain. Cohere Co-founder Ivan Zhang states that they aim to increase the operational pace in the aviation sector by combining enterprise-level AI models with Saab’s engineering expertise. The MoU promotes high-value industrial collaboration in Canada by bringing together aviation expertise and AI research.
