Aegis Ashore to Japan
Japan is expanding its ballistic missile defence network. Japan's two Aegis ashore system request from the US has been approved.
Japan will procure under the agreement which is expected to a total cost of US $ 2.15 billion; two Aegis weapon systems, two Multi-Mission Signal Processors and two command-control processors. Systems to be supplied include Global Command and Control System-Maritime, IFF systems and inertial guidance systems.
With this step on the rising missile threat in Asia-Pacific, Japan will have a facility similar to that deployed by the US in Romania.
