Self-propelled anti-aircraft guns have maintained their importance for years against rotary or fixed-wing manned air elements, with missiles and drones approaching close range from low altitude.

DAPA (Defence Acquisition Program Administration), the defence procurement instution of the Republic of Korea, announced that an agreement has been signed with Hanwha Defense for the new wheeled self-propelled anti-aircraft gun system. Under the agreement of $ 207.66 million, the platforms will start mass production phase.

Having an electro-optical targeting system, AAGW (Anti-Aircraft Gun Wheeled Vehicle) will replace the KM167 A3 Vulcan systems that have reached the end of their economic life. The platform, which consists of the K30 Biho tower on the Hanwha Defence product K808 chassis, equipped with two 30 mm air defence guns. The vehicle, capable of detecting at a range of 7 km, can engage targets at 3 km distance. The vehicle is also backed up with a manual targeting system.
