Unmanned Ground Vehicles to Hunt Ships

Within the framework of the new combat structure and the vision of the Far East, the development of the area-control and area-denial capabilities of the US Marine Corps is on the agenda.

The Marine Corps (USMC), which has a different command chain and structure than the other elements of the US Armed Forces, takes steps to increase its coastal defence capabilities within the framework of the new power concept. In this context, a project carried out with Oskosh Defence has been exposed recently. Within the scope of GBASM (Ground-Based Anti-Ship Missile), which is considered one of the most important modernization projects of USMC, NSM anti-aircraft missiles will be integrated into JLTV ROGUE Fires unmanned ground vehicles. With the work called NMESIS (Navy Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System), NSM missiles can be launched from ROGUE Fires unmanned ground vehicles.

The area control capabilities will be increased thanks to NMESIS, which has been developed to meet the maritime and coastal defence needs of the Marine Corps, including short and long term solutions. Thanks to the unmanned solution, USMC will be able to dominate much larger areas with less manpower with data link.
