The First Flying Prototype of the Modernized Mi-17 is on Display

Russian Helicopters is displaying the modernized variant of the Mi-8/17 transport helicopter. The first flying prototype of the Mi-171Sh-VN helicopter was unveiled for the first time at the 2020 International Military and Technical Forum.

The platform built at Ulan-Ude Aviation Factory is equipped with IBKV-17VP glass cockpit, sighting system and advanced avionics. The helicopter was armoured with reinforced titanium and kevlar.

Mi-171Sh-VN 's cruising speed was increased to 260 km/h and the maximum departure weight was increased to 13,500 kg.
