The first dates of the Istanbul-class frigates are determined. Defence Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc. (STM) is the main contractor for the warship. According to the information shared from Turkey's Shipbuilding industrialists – (GİSBİR) milestone dates for TCG Istanbul are as follows:
The launch date of TCG Istanbul is January 2021.
Completion of port acceptance tests: May 2022.
Completion of the cruise acceptance tests: January 2023.
Admission to the Naval Forces Command Inventory in September 2023.
Island Class ships built within the framework of MİLGEM were accepted in the Turkish Navy inventory on September 28, on the anniversary of the Preveza Naval Victory. TCG Istanbul, which will serve with the F515 board number, is expected to enter the inventory on September 28, 2023, within the framework of this practice.
