January 16, 2018T-50 Deliveries to Thailand Delayed
The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) postponed the handover ceremony of the first two T-50TH Golden Eagle training aircraft out of 12 ordered from Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) indefinitely. The ceremony, which was earlier scheduled to be held at the Takhli on 12 January, was delayed upon KAI’s notification that the trainer jets need more checks. According to the Korean manufacturer’s statement, during their flight to Thailand on 8 January, the two aircraft was forced to land in Malaysia due to extreme turbulent weather and the technicians noticed some unusual happening during eye inspections.
KAI received two separate orders from Thailand to build four T-50TH trainer jets worth $110 million on 17 September 2015 and eight T-50TH jets valued at $260 million in 2016.
