March 8, 2018Saudi Arabia’s MMSC Program Launched
Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $481 million contract for long-lead-time material in support of the construction of four Multi-Mission Surface Combatant (MMSC) ships. The US Department of Defence has first announced the possible Foreign Military Sale to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for MMSC ships and associated equipment, parts and logistical support for an estimated cost of $11.25 billion in 2015. This initial award marks the launch of the Saudi MMSC program.Â
MMSC ships are a derivative of the Freedom Variant of the U.S. Navy Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Class.
