Russian newspaper Kommersant announced cancellation of Russia's arms trade with Azerbaijan. Russia has stepped-back from sale of anti-ship systems to be procured to Azerbaijan.
Decision for the sale of Bal-E and 3M24s, which the Baku administration decided to procure in a small amount, is cancelled. Systems that have not yet signed contracts for their procurement are used in anti-ship missions. It is stated that Russia took the decision because it could be a threat to the Russian ships in the Caspian Sea.
3K60 Bal systems, which have fire control systems and radar units, serve as a coastal ship defence system. Missiles can carry 145 kilograms of high-explosive warheads can be effective in 130 kilometres range.
