Romania to Procure Additional F-16’s

Romania plans to supply additional F-16 Fightin Falcon. Romanian Defence Minister Mihai Fifor announced that Romania plans to procure five additional F-16 from Portugal. Stating that the supply of 36 F-16s in the next period is also on the table, Fifor said that these aircraft could be procured from the USA, Israel or Greece.

In October 2017, Romania received 12 F-16s from Portugal. F-16s procured from Portugal have a life span of 4,000 flight hours which will take the place of the MiG-21 LanceR aircrafts that have begun to complete their economic and structural lives. Romania will pay US $ 732 million to Portugal for these aircrafts. F-16 Fighting Falcons are flying for many users worldwide.
