Romania is expected to kick start a program to buy a new shore-based, coastal anti-ship missile system. The contract is valued at $157 million and will replace the Soviet P-15. The government could adopt a decision this week to get the defence ministry to start the negotiations to buy a system of mobile missile systems that would be set up on the Black Sea coast. Defence Minister Mihai Fifor said last week that he wants to sign this contract by the end of the year. At the moment at least four major defence firms in the world are known to be interested.
