Romania is expected to kick start a program to buy a new shore-based, coastal anti-ship missile system. The contract is valued at $157 million and will replace the Soviet P-15. Defence Minister Mihai Fifor said last week that he wants to sign this contract by the end of the year. At the moment at least four major defence firms in the world are known to be interested.

The MBDA , with Exocet MM40 Block 3, US Boeing with Harpoon ,Swedish Saab with RBS15 Mk3  and Norwegian Kongsberg with Naval Strike Missile (NMS).
