Rheinmetall will deliver an additional 149 mobile medical intervention stations to the Bundeswehr. The order, valued at over 500 million Euros, covers both protected and unprotected systems. It will bring the total number of stations procured by the Bundeswehr to 165 and push the total gross order value beyond 600 million Euros.
The Rheinmetall Bundeswehr order, placed in July 2026, was carried out under a framework contract signed at the end of 2024. Production of the systems is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027. The order was announced as the highest value contract ever received by Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH.
New Order for 149 Systems Between Rheinmetall and the Bundeswehr
In December 2024, Germany’s Federal Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support Office placed an order with Rheinmetall for the supply of up to 137 mobile medical intervention stations. In the initial phase, 10 ballistic protected and six unprotected systems were ordered. The framework contract also included options for additional armoured and unarmoured systems. The new order exercises part of these options and will also include training for the relevant personnel.
Can be Set Up by Four Soldiers
Each system includes a fully equipped emergency intervention station along with four additional treatment stations. Medical equipment is mounted on Airliner rails and can be configured according to user needs.
The stations can be transported on various carrier vehicles used by the Bundeswehr. A special lifting system was developed to allow them to be set up on longitudinally and transversely sloped terrain. Rheinmetall stated that this solution was developed because no ready made system met the specified requirements.
Container Replaces Tent Structure
The Bundeswehr is procuring both protected and unprotected versions of the system. The programme also includes the refurbishment of an existing system.
In the new system, the previously used complex tent structure has been replaced by a 3:1 container structure produced by Rheinmetall Mobile Systeme GmbH. The system has been designed to be transportable and set up in more challenging terrain conditions.
