The German company Rheinmetall announced the acquisition of the company for development and construction of protection and shielding systems IBD Deisenroth Engineering GmbH.

The Family-ran Germany -based company is one of the leading companies in the field with long presence and participation in major development and armament programs. This includes the older Advanced Modular Armour Protection active system and the Modular Expandable Armour System composite armour system. IBD Diesenroth revealed a new concept in June 2018 dubbed SMART PROTech, a system designed to provide active protection from tandem warheads for main battle tanks (MBTs) and medium-to-heavy armoured fighting vehicles.

According to Rheinmetall's announcement, the agreement to acquire IBD Deisenroth Engineering GmbH was closed without announcing the redemption price and is due to enter into force on June 1, 2019.

IBD Deisenroth Engineering now employs 120 people, and in 2018 sales of 35 million euros.
