According to the decision issued under the signature of the Turkish President, Rear Admiral Cihat Yaycı, Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces Command, was appointed to the command of the General Staff. The decision on the appointment was published in the Official Gazette. No information about Yaycı's place of duty was shared.

Last month, Yaycı became the first combatant Admiral to take the title as an associate professor. Yaycı has books titled “The Concept of Exclusive Economic Zone Questions and Answers”, which describes Turkey's rights in the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas, and “Libya is Turkey's neighbour from the sea”.
