ATLA (Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency), has published a press release. The report was informed that Japan has developed a new electromagnetic railgun. This is also the first time the images of working prototypes have been featured. ATLA's statement was the first official statement on Japan's railgun.
Detailed information about the program was not provided. The new weapon is expected to be used in the next generation Type 27DD destroyers which will enter into service with the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force.
