Machine guns, one of the most important gifts of the Industrial Revolution to the battlefield and changed the fate of wars, continue their development in parallel with technology.

The German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) developed MG4 to replace MG3 machine guns in its inventory and distributed to military personnel for active use in the field. The Bundeswehr has announced that trials for the MG4 A3 variant have started. The machine gun is subjected to extensive tests by the 26th Airborne Brigade based in Zweibrücken.

The MG4 machine gun, developed by the German arms manufacturer Heckler & Koch, was developed for use at the squadron level in the Bundeswehr. The weapon, also known as the company stock name HK123, fires 5.56×45 mm NATO rounds and offers a fully automatic shooting opportunity with a rotating bolt gas mechanism. A new paint coating and 4×30 optical sight were used in the A3 model of the machine gun, which provides controlled shooting thanks to low recoil. The weight of the gun, whose firing accuracy and effectiveness increased, increased to 8.6 kilograms.
