Video of the prototype of the new laser weapons system, developed by the US Ground Forces, has been shared. The images show a short-range air defence system integrated into the Stryker 8×8 wheeled armoured vehicle.
The weapons system, which is planned to be deployed to protect personnel on the battlefield against unmanned aerial systems and air munitions, will produce a 50-kilowatt laser.
The force is working to bring the system to platoon level by fiscal year 2022.
