US Navy announced the name of its new platform. The new Independence class littoral combat ship will be named as USS Kingsville (LCS 36).
The new platform was named after the city of Kingsville, Texas, USA. The decision made because of contributions of Kingsville to the US Navy and Marine Corps. Platform will be built at Austal Shipyard in the city of Mobile. USA has already announced that 11 coastal combat ships are under construction, seven platforms are in pre-construction phase and 17 platforms have been delivered.
