MKE’s ammunition shipments over the past month have strengthened the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces and other security forces. Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi, which produces a wide range of products from tank ammunition to armoured personnel carriers, rocket systems to howitzer equipment, has also completed the export of 20 mm cartridges to the Philippines during the same period.
MKE has achieved significant increases in production capacity with new production lines and modernisation efforts brought online as part of its 1.5 billion dollar investment drive. The areas where MKE has expanded capacity include energetic materials, ammunition which forms the backbone of MKE’s shipments, weapon systems, guided rocket technologies, aircraft bombs and CBRN protective equipment.
Operational Needs of Security Forces Met
Over the past month, various quantities and calibres of 7.62, 9 and 20 mm cartridges, 40 mm grenade launcher ammunition, 60 mm mortar ammunition, 105 mm tank ammunition, 107 mm rockets and 120 mm mortar ammunition were delivered to security forces.
During the same period, the National Infantry Rifle MPT-76MH, the Electric Armoured Personnel Carrier, artillery fuses of different specifications, 155 mm howitzer propellant, the Minefield Crossing System and coloured smoke canisters were also delivered for active use.
Parts Support for Defence Industry Partners
MKE also provided parts support for defence industry partners’ projects. Under this framework, production of 2.75 inch rocket warheads and motor assemblies, Fırtına howitzer equipment, Panter howitzer weapon systems, 35 mm Gökdeniz weapon systems, spare parts and Platform Machine Gun components were completed and delivered to the relevant platform manufacturers.
Export to the Philippines
In addition to domestic deliveries, MKE successfully completed 20 mm cartridge deliveries to the Philippines as part of its foreign trade activities. The company continues to expand its presence in international markets, following earlier exports such as the Boran Howitzer to Albania.
