Indonesia to Modernise Frigate

Indonesia, which is founded on islands, has taken action to improve its naval capabilities due to increase of international naval movements in the region, .

The Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) took a new step to modernize the Bung-Tomo class corvettes. In this context, the mission systems of KRI Usman-Harun (359) corvette will be improved. In line with the activities to be carried out in partnership with the state-owned company PT-LEN Industri, Thales TACTICOS combat management system, SMART-S Mk.2 air and surface surveillance radar will be integrated into the ship. In addition, the platform will be equipped with STIR EO Mk.2 fire control radar, EO fire control system and Vigile Radar-Electronic Support Measures. Within the scope of the targets planned to be completed in 2023, the Indonesian Navy will extend the life of the ship with a cost effective solution.
