Guidance Kit of Ground Trials

Guidance kits developed for a different type of ammunition are important in that they can quickly convert conventional systems into smart weapon systems and offer cost-effective solutions.

BAE Systems, which operates in the USA, continues testing activities for APKWS (Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System) guidance kits, which developed for 2.75 inch (70 mm) rockets. The system, which is currently successfully using from different air platforms, will become surface-launched. In this context, the company announced that APKWS launch test was carried out from the first place. Officials from the US Navy and from Arnold Defence, the main contractor in the production of rocket launchers, participated in the testing activity at the US Army Yuma Test Ground.

As a reliable system that proves its worth on the battlefield, APKWS has been qualified for different aircraft, including the F/A-18 Hornet family platforms. The equipment, which makes conventional 2.75 “rockets laser-guided and significantly increases accuracy, provides precision strike capability to the user. Studies for the ground-launched version of the system have been developed to offer precision fire support to the elements in environments where air support is not possible. APKWS minimizes collateral damage Thanks to its structure, it is suitable for use in urban environments.
