The Gripen aircraft developed by Sweden-based company Saab began production in Brazil.
Gripen E/F developed by Saab for the Brazilian Air Force has begun to operate the first production facility outside Sweden. The facility, called Saab Aeronáutica Montagens (SAM), will send various parts of the plane to the final assembly line at the Embraer plant in Brazil and linköping, Sweden.
Gripen's front and rear body, as well as parts such as aerodynamic brakes, are planned to be produced at SAM.
A contract worth approximately $4 billion was signed between Saab and Brazil in 2014 for the delivery of 36 Gripen E/F fighters.
