U.S. Department of Defence has awarded Lockheed Martin Corp., a $996,775,000 firm-fixed-price contract for F-16 upgrades. This contract provides for the upgrade of 84 Greek F-16 aircraft to the V-configuration.

Work will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas; and Athens, Greece, and is expected to be completed by June 30, 2027.

This contract involves 100 percent Foreign Military Sales (FMS) to the government of Greece.

The Viper integrates advanced capabilities as part of an upgrade package to better interoperate with fifth-generation fighters, including the F-35 and the F-22. They even share some technology, with those aircraft like the new radars that will be installed, the APG-83 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) which will significantly enhance the aircraft’s ability to identify and engage enemy aircraft.
