“The Charles de Gaulle will need a successor, I am proud to officially launch the renewal program for our aircraft carrier,” said Florence Parly at Le Bourget on Tuesday at the Euronaval trade fair. The French navy recently completed an 18-month mid-life upgrade of the Charles de Gaulle, France’s only aircraft carrier. Since the beginning of 2017 in Toulon a vast renovation of 18 months, which should give it a second life for the next 20 years. Charles-de-Gaulle will then take the sea and must go to the Indian Ocean in 2019.
